MD OPF Directs Comprehensive Reforms to Enhance Welfare, Education, and Services for Overseas Pakistanis

Islamabad, January 29, 2025:

Mohammed Afzaal Bhatti, Managing Director, Overseas Pakistanis Foundation (OPF), has announced a series of proactive measures to enhance welfare, education, and overall services for overseas Pakistanis. During a meeting, Mr. Bhatti shared that, OPF has successfully recovered Rs. 800 Million during Financial Year 2023-24 on account of end of services benefits of overseas Pakistanis from employers abroad in 273 cases. Adding to the overall recovery of Rs. 7.9 billion in 9,612 cases. He announced plans to engage the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to further expedite resolutions of cases of overseas Pakistanis. To address critical needs, he proposed establishing ambulance facilities at all major airports for the transportation of deceased overseas Pakistanis. He also unveiled plans to expand OPF membership by including NICOP holders from Europe, USA, and UK, enabling them to access OPF services and contribute to Pakistan’s development through investments.

During the review of OPF educational institutions, Managing Director, OPF emphasized ensuring the quality of education and taking further steps to facilitate the children of overseas Pakistanis. While appreciating the recent achievement of a student from OPF Girls College F-11 Campus for securing distinction in Cambridge exams, the Managing Director, OPF, commended the consistent achievements of OPF students in Cambridge and other relevant board examinations.

He also praised the teachers of OPF educational institutions for becoming validated master trainers through the British Council. He further directed the introduction of technology-based learning in all OPF educational institutions.

Concluding the meeting, Mr. Bhatti reiterated the Prime Minister’s vision to uplift OPF through sustainable reforms, innovation, and collaboration.

He stressed the need to raise awareness of OPF’s achievements and initiatives to build a positive image and strengthen trust among overseas Pakistanis. “Our mission is to ensure that every overseas Pakistani feels valued, connected, and supported. Together, we will continue to address their challenges, improve services, and contribute to Pakistan’s progress,” Mr. Bhatti stated.
